What a Christ-honoring graduation we had Saturday. I was immensely proud of our graduates. If you did not have a chance to see it in person or on YouTube, you can still watch it. Our MVCS YouTube channel is linked below. The seniors’ speeches and comments on their verses were full of thankfulness, encouragement, and Truth. Here are a few quotes:
Stan’s Testimony: “…these relationships with my peers and teachers have allowed me to form an even more meaningful relationship with God.” (To current students): “Your relationships – with God, with your friends, with your parents – they shape you…..you only get as much benefit out of them, as you put into them.”
Cade’s Valedictorian Speech: “My favorite thing about the school is my friends. I cannot thank them enough for standing by my side all of these years.” “I will always remember the influence each teacher has had on our lives and how they have taught us how to love someone that you are not even that close to.” “God has taught me how to surround myself with good people and grow spiritually from all aspects of life. I encourage everyone here today to take steps in life that they are scared to take and ask God for help.”
Elliot’s Salutatorian Speech: “The dedication and love from the teachers and the opportunity to form strong friendships are what makes Mid Vermont special.” “The biggest thing that makes this school so special, is the teachers. They are dedicated and passionate, devoted to God and their students.”
Hunter’s Scripture comments: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Philippians 4:6″ “Not the best year for seniors or the world…this verse shines on what we need to do with God, how prayer is powerful for our country and world.” “The last 6 years were a blessing, on the soccer field, the court, with teachers…it shows how powerful God can be through the school system for life in general. I want to let new students and graduating classes know that.”
Ryan’s Scripture comments: “ For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11. “God has a plan.” “So many memories I’ve made here…ending like this hurt (COVID school closure), but this verse is reassuring.” “With the loss of life from the pandemic, divisive speech from the leader who should be uniting us, and brutality from authority figures who are supposed to be keeping the peace…these are uncertain times indeed.” “But we must remember that God has a plan for us….and therefore, we must remain strong as we look to the future.”
May we remain strong and ask God for help.
