While we know you are all busy with homeschooling, believe it or not, we are planning for next year! You may have heard of the changes that were made last year at MVCS and there are more for the 2020-2021 school year!
Four big changes that will provide opportunities for you as homeschooling families:
1. Modified block schedule for Senior High students:
Our new schedule will provide time for some semester-long 80ish minute classes. This will allow us to continue to provide a program of academic excellence, while also increasing our ability to meet the needs of 21st century students. The skills needed today include collaboration, problem-solving, critical thinking, communication, creativity, and more. Mastering these skills requires more than the usual 40-minute class.
2. We have added some new classes:
- Personal Finance (Dave Ramsey course)
- Sustainable Agriculture
- Holocaust & Human Behavior
- Music classes
3. Online high school and dual credit (High School and college credit) courses are available to your student.
4. Elementary Students:
We will provide weekly enriching extra-curricular classes on Wednesdays from 12-3 PM, for Kindergarten to 6th grade students. This will include lunch and recess, art, music, physical education, and possibly a STEM activity in a Christ-centered learning environment. Your children will enjoy time learning with new friends and you can use the afternoon for your own purposes.
In addition, your children can join our classes for field trips and special days like Mission’s Day, Young Reader’s Day, Spiritual Emphasis Week, and more.
The Class Selection Forms are attached. You can print out the specific pages that you need, fill them out, and scan or take a photo to send back to us or drop it off. If you have the ability to fill in a pdf on your computer, you can do that as well, then email it back to us. If you want to come by the school for a hard copy or would like us to mail it to you, please let us know.
Please connect with us if you have any questions.
